GC2 Battery Pack Rebuilt

GC2 Battery Pack Rebuilt

If your battery pack is no longer holding a charge, you can save money by getting it rebuilt at local places like Batteries Plus. New replacement battery packs can cost up to $80 + shipping. Batteries Plus will replace all the cells with new ones for about $40 including labor. You'll basically have a new batter pack.

The GC2 battery pack is made up of 6 NiMh 1A cells. Total voltage is about 7.2 volts. Batteries Plus should have those cells in stock or can get them in a couple of days.

I just went to Batteries Plus. They're replacing the cells in my pack for $28. Woot!

What do you guys think would be the best option?

I have a new battery pack that I needed so that I could take the GC2 out doors and have it last more than an hour. Now that sim season has started I would like to take that new battery back out and then put the old back in seeing how all I do is have the GC2 plugged in while in doors. I would like to save the new battery over the winter and not worry about discharging it every month.

Would this be ok and would you be better to remove the battery once dead or while fully charged? Would you still need to charge and discharge while out?

Thanks as I read that a long time ago but forgot that it said about batteries out of the unit. Guess just need to leave them in and once a month leave the unit on to discharge.

Well bad news from my local batteries plus. After they looked at it for a few minutes like it was Chinese arithmetic, they said they wouldn't be able to rebuild it.

Looks like I'll be ordering a battery and might as well grab the protective shield from par2pro.

Lol. Have them call the Lansing, MI store. That guy looked at it and said no problem within 3 seconds. Had the battery back the next day.
